The Lady Triton Volleyball League is ruled by the young, as Pacific Volleyball Academy captured the Triton League championship with a 3–2 victory over Guam Pro on Tuesday night, December 16, at the UOG Calvo Field House.

Pacific Volleyball Academy and Guam Pro were the two youngest teams in the Lady Triton Volleyball League. Guam Pro had their coach playing for them, as Coach Oksana Chernyshova, a former international professional player, took the court during the match.

Pacific featured Lean Aromin, a junior from the Academy of Our Lady of Guam, who has become a feared hitter in the Triton League and led Pacific Volleyball Academy. The title marks Pacific Volleyball Academy’s first Triton League championship in its debut season.

Pacific won the opening set, 25–21, with Chernyshova sitting on the bench. However, Guam Pro responded with Chernyshova in the lineup, winning the second and third sets by identical 25–22 scores. Pacific answered in the fourth set with a decisive 25–18 victory, tying the match at two sets each.

The match went to a 15-point fifth set, where Guam Pro jumped out to an 8–5 lead at the side switch and later held a 10–8 advantage. Alina Torres then stepped up to serve for Pacific Volleyball Academy and delivered seven consecutive points, many of them aces, to seal a 15–10 win in the set and secure the 3–2 championship victory.

Pacific Volleyball Academy finished the season with a 5–3 overall record after ending the regular season at 2–3 and entering the playoffs as the fourth seed. The team went on a postseason run, winning three straight matches, including victories over the Lady Bombers, the Rogues—the top seed and undefeated team—and Guam Pro.

Guam Pro completed the season at 4–4 after also finishing the regular season at 2–3. Their playoff run included wins over the Lady Tritons and Au Mana, the four-time Triton League champions, before falling in the championship match.
