U17 Nationals Comeback From 17 Down In 4th Quarter To Beat Fuetsa, Lady Tritons Best BallHers
On Monday night, September 15 at the UOG Calvo Field House, the U17 Nationals staged a 17-point comeback in the 4th quarter, beating the defending Lady Triton Super League champions, Fuetsa, 88-86. The Lady Tritons also beat BallHers for the first time in at least 5 years, winning 69–65 to cap off a night of unlikely outcomes.
In the opening game, Fuetsa was controlling the game in the first half building a 22–15 lead after the first quarter and extending it to 46–34 by halftime.
By the end of the third quarter, Fuetsa was firmly ahead, 69–52. The U17 Nationals roared back in the final period, turning up their defensive pressure and forcing turnovers as they scored 36 points in the final 10 minutes of the game, as they limited Fuetsa to 17 points in the 4th period.
Fuetsa was unable to get the ball to the front court, as U17 stole the ball to score the tying goal and the winning goal. U17 Nationals are 3-0 for the season, while Fuetsa fell to 1-1.
The second game saw the Lady Tritons jump out to a commanding 21–7 lead in the first quarter, fueled by Arriah Arceo’s 9 points. UOG’s offense cooled in the second quarter, scoring only 11 as BallHers closed the gap to 32–26 at halftime, led by Anslie Sarseleio’s 9-point surge.
BallHers carried that momentum into the third quarter, outscoring UOG 21–11 to take a 47–43 advantage heading into the final period. Arceo got hot again, dropping 15 points in the fourth to spark the Tritons’ comeback. UOG closed the game scoring 6 points to claim a 69–65 victory.
Arceo led all scorers with 31 points, supported by Golopin Choay with 11 and Maria Duenas with 10. For BallHers, Sarseleio and Bila Aguon each scored 13, while Shaniah Aguon added 12. The Lady Tritons now sit at 1–1, while BallHers fell to 1–2.
