In 2022, the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparity awarded a grant to the University of Guam to support the Guma’ Tinemtom (House of Wisdom) Project, which aspires to build population health research through island wisdom.

In partnership with the University of Michigan’s Institute for Social Research, the project aims to establish a Micronesia Data Laboratory at the University of Guam and conduct the first-ever Guam National Health Interview Survey (GNHIS) targeting 500 households of adults and adolescents in Guam with an emphasis on measuring the prevalence of gout and hyperuricemia
