The University of Guam Lady Tritons came close to beating Pacific Volleyball Academy, the defending champions of the Lady Triton Volleyball League, on Thursday night. UOG led the match 1-0 and 2-1 and went into the fifth set tied at 2-2. However, they couldn't maintain the pressure and fell in the fifth set, 15-8, ultimately losing the match 3-2.

UOG won the first set with a solid 25-20 performance. Pacific came back to tie the match at 1-1 with their own 25-20 win in the second set. The Lady Tritons responded again and took the third set 25-23, going up 2-1 heading into the fourth. Pacific Academy answered once more, winning the fourth set 25-22 to tie the match 2-2 and force a 15-point fifth set.

Pacific VB Academy started strong in the final set, jumping to a 5-0 lead and extending it to 8-2 when the teams switched sides. UOG fought back and narrowed the score to 12-7. However, that was as close as they would get. Pacific closed out the set 15-8 and won the match 3-2. Pacific Volleyball Academy moves to 1-0, while the Lady Tritons fall to 0-1.

In the nightcap, VIBE had no trouble with NesianRooted, sweeping the new team in three straight sets: 25-12, 25-9, and 25-17.

VIBE is also new to the Triton League, but it consists of players who have previously competed in the league. VIBE is now 2-0, while NesianRooted drops to 0-2.
