The University of Guam Board of Regents has elected a new slate of officers effective June 1, 2026.

The Board elected Mike W. Naholowaa as chairperson and Dr. Janice P. Malilay, DDS, as vice chairperson during its regular meeting on May 14, 2026. Christopher "Chris" L.C. Duenas will continue serving as treasurer.

Naholowaa succeeds Agapito "Pete" A. Diaz, P.E., whose term on the Board concluded on May 31, 2026. Diaz served as chairperson during the 2025-2026 term after previously serving as vice chairperson.

"On behalf of the Board of Regents, I extend our sincere appreciation to Chairperson Diaz for his dedicated leadership and service to the University," Naholowaa said. "As we begin this new term, I look forward to working alongside my fellow regents, President Enriquez, and the entire Triton community to support student success, strengthen the University, and advance its role in serving Guam and the broader Micronesian region. Together, we will continue moving UOG forward with accountability, collaboration, and a shared commitment to its mission."

Naholowaa joined the Board of Regents in 2020 and has held several leadership roles during his tenure. He served as the Board's treasurer beginning in 2021 and most recently served as vice chairperson during the 2025-2026 term.

Malilay has served on the Board since 2021 and has contributed to the Board's work through her service on several standing committees. As vice chairperson, she will support the chairperson in providing leadership and oversight as the Board carries out its responsibilities to the University and the people of Guam.

Duenas joined the Board in 2024, bringing private-sector experience to the governing body. He was first elected treasurer in 2025 and will continue overseeing the Board's financial governance responsibilities during the new term.

UOG President Anita Borja Enriquez welcomed the incoming officers and thanked Diaz for his leadership and service.

"On behalf of the University community, I congratulate Chairperson Naholowaa, Vice Chairperson Malilay, and Treasurer Duenas," Enriquez said. "We are grateful for their continued service and leadership and look forward to working closely with them as we advance the University's mission. I also extend our deepest appreciation to Chairperson Diaz for his leadership, commitment, and many contributions to UOG."

The University of Guam Board of Regents is the institution's nine-member governing body. Regents are appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Guam Legislature, with the exception of the student regent, who is selected in accordance with the University's governing policies.
