Guam Nationals Break Open Close Game To Rout UOG Tritons, Northern Construction Defeats Guam Select U17
The UOG Tritons played one of their best first halves of the season so far, trailing the Guam Nationals by only one point, 32–31, at halftime, on October 27. However, a poor third quarter turned a close game into a rout, as the Guam Nationals defeated UOG 83–52. Northern Construction stepped up its defense in the fourth period to beat the Guam Select U17 team 91–83.
In the opener, UOG played solid defense against the Guam Nationals, holding the high-scoring
                                 team to just 33 points in the first half. However, the Tritons struggled offensively
                                 in the third period, and the contest shifted from a one-point game to a 23-point deficit
                                 within 10 minutes to start the second half.
 
UOG trailed 16–10 after the first quarter but outscored the Nationals 21–16 in the
                                 second period, trailing by just one point at halftime, 32–31. The Tritons scored two
                                 points in the first minute of the second half but would not score again until making
                                 a free throw in the final minute of the third period. Meanwhile, the Guam Nationals
                                 put up 25 points to take a 57–34 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
 
UOG never challenged the Nationals in the fourth quarter, ultimately losing 83–52.
 
Joe Blas led the Guam Nationals with 26 points, while Sammy Setik and DJ Osbourne
                                 each added 18. Ralph Macaldo led the Tritons with 17 points, and Rico Taitague scored
                                 14, all in the fourth period.
 
The Guam Nationals improved to 4–0 in the Triton League, while the Tritons fell to
                                 0–4.
 
In the second game, Northern Construction and Guam Select U17 played an even first
                                 half, with Northern leading 53–51 at halftime. Guam Select took a narrow lead after
                                 the third period, 68–67. However, Northern Construction took control in the final
                                 quarter by playing more physically against the young U17 team, holding them to just
                                 15 points while scoring 24 to secure the 91–83 win.
 
Jawo Mesina led all scorers for Northern with 30 points, while Darwin Ecijan scored
                                 25 for Guam Select U17. Northern Construction improved to 2–2 in the league, while
                                 Guam Select U17 fell to 1–3.
 
The Triton Men’s Basketball League returns to action on Wednesday with two games:
