Created in 1988 through Public Law 19-45, the “Doc Sanchez” scholarship program has long supported GovGuam employees in pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration and related fields. The scholarship commemorates the enduring contributions of Pedro “Doc” Sanchez—an esteemed educator, historian, and public administrator who championed the development of a well-educated government workforce.

This year, a total of 12 scholarships will be awarded: six for undergraduate students and six for graduate students.

Applicants must submit their materials by 5 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2025, either to the SBPA Dean’s Office or online at https://uogsbpa.com/docsanchez.

Required application materials include:

• Completed application form
• Typewritten essay
• Letter of recommendation from a government, education, or community leader—preferably someone familiar with the applicant’s professional and academic performance in GovGuam
• Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor or department/agency director
• Official transcripts
• Verification of employment
