HAGGAN and U-Fly Win Five-Set Matches in Triton Men’s Volleyball League

HAGGAN and U-Fly battled through five-set matches in the Triton Men’s Volleyball League on Tuesday night, September 22, with both teams coming away with hard-fought 3-2 victories.
In the opening match, HAGGAN struck first with a 25-20 win over Local Strains, but
Local Strains answered back in the second set, matching the score with a 25-20 win
to even the match at 1-1.
HAGGAN regained the momentum in the third set, pulling ahead with a 25-17 victory.
Local Strains responded once again in the fourth, taking the set 25-17 to force a
deciding fifth set.
HAGGAN came out strong in the final frame, jumping to a 7-0 lead and carrying an 8-2 advantage into the side change. Local Strains battled to cut into the deficit, but HAGGAN maintained its lead and closed out the set 15-11 to claim the 3-2 victory.
The win moved HAGGAN to 4-1 on the regular season and secured the No. 2 seed heading
into the playoffs. Local Strains finished 3-2 and will enter the postseason as the
No. 3 seed.
In the second match, U-Fly came out firing against UMITIDE, taking the first two sets
25-22 and 25-13 to move within one set of a sweep.
UMITIDE battled back in the third set, pulling out a 25-20 win before carrying that momentum into the fourth set with a 25-21 victory. The comeback forced another deciding fifth set.
The final set went point for point, with U-Fly holding an 8-6 lead at the side change. U-Fly continued to hold off UMITIDE’s push, maintaining a narrow one- to two-point advantage before closing out the set 15-13 and taking the match 3-2.
U-Fly finished the regular season 2-3 and secured the No. 4 seed, while UMITIDE finished 1-4 and will enter the playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
The Triton Men’s Volleyball League has one regular-season match remaining on Thursday, September 24:
7:00 p.m. - ButterHouse vs. UOG Tritons (UOG Athletics Facebook Page)
The final regular-season match will not affect the playoff standings. ButterHouse has secured the No. 1 seed, while the UOG Tritons will enter the playoffs as the No. 6 seed.
The first round of the playoffs begins Tuesday, September 29:
- 6:30 p.m. - No. 4 U-Fly vs. No. 5 UMITIDE (Clutch Plus Channel)
- 8:15 p.m. - No. 3 Local Strains vs. No. 6 UOG Tritons (Clutch Plus Channel)
