The University of Guam has climbed in four categories in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, earning higher positions among 110 other regional universities in the U.S. West.

UOG ranked No. 43 among Regional Universities West, up from No. 53 in 2026. The University also earned higher rankings among public universities, institutions advancing social mobility, and colleges serving military veterans.

The University's 2027 rankings are:

  • No. 43 — Regional Universities West, up 10 places from No. 53.
  • No. 23 — Top Public Schools West, up five places from No. 28.
  • No. 28 — Top Performers in Social Mobility West, up 17 places from No. 45.
  • No. 17 — Best Colleges for Veterans West, up 11 places from No. 28.

The gains underscore UOG's continued focus on expanding access to higher education, supporting student success, and preparing graduates to meet the workforce needs of Guam and Micronesia.

“These rankings reflect our commitment to helping students earn their degrees, prepare for meaningful careers, and contribute to their communities,” said UOG President Anita Borja Enriquez. “Our responsibility is to ensure that a University of Guam education continues to transform lives and deliver lasting value to our communities in Guam and Micronesia.”

Advancing opportunity and social mobility

UOG recorded its largest improvement in social mobility, rising 17 places to No. 28.

The category recognizes institutions that successfully enroll and graduate students who receive federal Pell Grants, which are generally awarded to undergraduate students from lower-income households.

The University also climbed five places to No. 23 among Top Public Schools in the West. As Guam's only public university, UOG provides students across the region with the opportunity to pursue a college education close to home while gaining the knowledge and skills needed for their future careers.

Recognition for serving military veterans

UOG rose 11 places to No. 17 in the Best Colleges for Veterans category, reflecting its standing among institutions serving veterans and eligible military-connected students.

“Guam has a proud tradition of military service, and our veterans deserve opportunities to succeed beyond their military careers,” Enriquez said. “We are committed to helping them and their families pursue higher education, build new careers, and continue contributing to our island community.”
