TRIO Programs
To motivate and assist economically and educationally disadvantaged students from our community and Micronesia, to ensure their progress through the academic pipeline, from middle school through post secondary programs, and to increase college retention and graduation rates of the target population.
TRIO Programs comprised of three educational opportunity outreached programs, namely: Talent Search, Upward Bound, and Student Support Services. TRIO is a 100% federally funded, nation-wide, non-profit program designed to assist students from disadvantage backgrounds; who are first-generation college bound and/or who are from low-income households, complete secondary education and continue to pursue and complete post-secondary education.
"Without Upward Bound [...] I wouldn't have known what to do to apply to a college, let alone graduate."
The TRIO Talent Search program will receive $409,407 annually to help 700 students per year.
The Student Support Services program through the UOG TRiO Office is here to help you and is now accepting applications.
An informational Educational Talent Search event was held Saturday for prospective college students from different schools and grades.
A group of students in TRiO's Student Support Services program had a valuable career exploration opportunity this semester through a Career and Cultural Field Trip in March.
