Håfa Adai UOG Community,

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero anticipates placing Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 1 at 4 p.m. this afternoon. At COR1, destructive winds are possible within the next 12 hours.

Once the island is in COR 1, residents are asked to remain indoors until COR 4 is announced.

Please read the attached JIC Release No. 14 for the full announcement.

Per the release: "Guam remains under both a tropical storm warning and a typhoon watch. The threat of typhoon conditions affecting Guam have decreased with recent northward shifts of Super Typhoon Sinlaku’s track the past 24 hours. While the threat of typhoon force winds has significantly diminished, this remains a serious weather event. As of 10 a.m., Sinlaku was located 12.2N and 148.9E, 290 miles east-southeast of Guam. It is moving northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph.

Guam can expect an extended period of tropical storm force winds (39 - 73 mph) from Monday evening through Wednesday. The onset of tropical storm force winds are expected to reach Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan tonight. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Tuesday or Tuesday afternoon. The latest forecast track has the storm passage still expected near or over Tinian and Saipan."
