  • 55th Annual University of Guam Charter Day Celebration is on Thursday, March, 2023. This year's theme is UOG Forward. Opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m. at the UOG Center Courtyard.

Visit the lab guided by the Anthropology student club to see displayed artifacts, grab a pamphlet, and watch anthropological videos in the classroom.


COMMISSION ON DECOLONIZATION

The Commission on Decolonization will be conducting educational outreach on decolonization, self-determination, the three political status options available to Guam, and also sharing its newly launched educational resources with the UOG community.

Agriculture & Life Sciences Building Courtyard

Interactive booths highlighting agriculture and consumer-related knowledge and resources for the public. Come enjoy demonstrations on beekeeping, snake-detector dogs, and cooking nutritious foods and participate in activities with 4-H, the NASA programs at UOG, bug researchers, and more! Local produce and seedlings will also be available for sale.


CYCAD WALK TOURS

Meet at the entrance to the Agriculture & Life Sciences Building

Join Agricultural Research Technician Frankie Matanane for a tour of UOG's complete collection of the world's 10 genera of cycads and the threats that are making them one of world's most endangered plant groups.


HERBARIUM TOURS

10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m.

Step into a library of nearly 60,000 plant specimens from throughout Micronesia. Herbarium Curator Dr. Wei Xiao will explain the importance of herbariums and the UOG Herbarium's need for community volunteers to help it become accessible worldwide as a digital database.


LAND-GRANT HALLWAY SELF-GUIDED TOUR

Learn about UOG's background as a Land Grant institution and its three-fold mission in instruction, research, and extension.


CHEMISTRY TITRATION COMPETITION

9 a.m. - Noon

Teams of two high school students will compete in a chemistry titration experiment concluding with an awards ceremony for individual and team winners. View the competition schedule here.


SLIDE INTO BIOLOGY: A MICROSCOPE EXPERIENCE

Peer into the world on a microscopic level! The UOG Bio Club will host a lab experience featuring various biological materials on microscope slides for visitors to view up close and in person.


SOIL RESEARCH LAB OPEN HOUSE & SOIL TESTING DEMONSTRATIONS

Soil Research Lab (ALS Building, Room 302)

Professor of Soil Science Mohammad Golabi and chemist Clancy Iyekar will teach visitors about Guam's main soil types and the instruments and procedures that UOG uses to conduct soil testing services for Guam residents and businesses.


TANOM BERNARD WATSON SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Seven agriculture majors will be awarded the 2023 Tanom Bernard Watson Scholarship by CNAS Dean Dr. Lee Yudin and the faculty of the Agriculture & Life Sciences Division.

The Triton Warrior Battalion invites you and all community members to join us as we celebrate Charter Day this year. University of Guam’s Army ROTC will showcase our Triton Warrior Cadets by presenting the U.S. and Guam Colors during the Charter Day opening ceremony. Following the ceremony, SROTC Cadets will execute two iterations of a live training demonstration – “Knock out an Enemy Bunker” with simulated explosions ( Demo 1 at 1100 and Demo 2 at 1400 hours ). In addition, ROTC Cadets will showcase a recruiting booth, which will feature a static display of weapons and vehicles from the U.S. Army Reserve (two locations – center court and CNAS court area).
