Study Abroad Scholarship

  • Description

The University of Guam’s Global Learning and Engagement (GLE) office offers the Study Abroad Scholarship to support student participation in short-term academic and cultural exchange programs overseas. The scholarship aims to reduce financial barriers and provide transformative international learning experiences for UOG students.

Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,500 to eligible UOG students who are active members of the International Friendship Club (IFC) and complete 100 verified volunteer service hours through the club.
Students may use the scholarship to participate in a variety of partner programs across the globe. In the past and recent years, UOG students have taken part in:

UOG Students at Chung-Ang University

Winter programs in South Korea at Chung-Ang University (featuring language classes, cultural activities, and academic workshops)

UOG students participating in martial arts at Wakayama University

Summer programs in Japan at Wakayama University (including traditional arts, city tours, and visits to UNESCO World Heritage sites)

To see other programs and upcoming study abroad opportunities, please visit or email the GLE office.

About IFC & Volunteer Service

IFC members assist with the GLE office’s English Adventure Program, which helps visiting international students improve their English skills while engaging in local cultural experiences. Volunteer service through this program is a key part of the scholarship requirement and gives students meaningful opportunities to practice leadership, intercultural communication, and service.
