NASA Guam EPSCoR
Deadline: Rolling basis, reviewed every two weeks
The NASA Guam Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is seeking applications from University of Guam (UOG) faculty and staff for seed-grant proposals that align with objectives and specific aims of the NASA Guam EPSCoR Program Research Infrastructure Development (RID) Project Plan FY2022-FY2023 and NASA Cooperative Agreement Notice (CAN) – Hanom Fresko yan Acho’ Tasi.
The overall goal of the NASA Guam EPSCoR RID Project Plan is to develop a competitive research and technology program aligned with NASA missions and relevant to Guam and the region.
The NASA CAN Hanom Fresko yan Acho’ Tasi project’s primary objective is to use geospatial datasets of varying resolutions and traditional in situ field data to enable researchers to characterize and model different aspects of coastal freshwater discharge, from ridge to reef.
Awards will be given with a maximum funding of $20,000 and the possibility of travel accommodations. Proposals will be selected based on the quality of the research and on the potential to achieve significant results either through the results of the NASA data applications, or in the development of new technology or new uses of NASA technology to solve Earth and Ocean problems in the region. Proposals are expected to be completed by May 1, 2023 with a written report.
Submit your proposal along with your CV (no more than two pages) to Dr. Leslie Aquino at AquinoL8112@triton.uog.edu. Please attach a budget breakdown with the proposal.

Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2022 Released! ROSES is an omnibus solicitation with many individual program elements, each with its own due dates and topics. From the NSPIRES website, you can view the list of opportunities in Table 2 (organized by due date) or Table 3 (organized by subject matter) including hyperlinks to element descriptions in the Appendices. You can also view the list of open program elements here. Together, these program elements cover the wide range of basic and applied supporting research and technology in space and Earth sciences supported by NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. Visit the SARA ROSES blog for more information. Here are a few of the many ROSES opportunities:
Have Questions About Applying for NASA Grants? Does the process seem overwhelming? Don’t miss the virtual discussion about how to apply for NASA grants and cooperative agreements! This session is ideal for MSIs that have not received NASA grant or cooperative agreement awards in the past or would like a refresher on the grants and cooperative agreement rules and tools. Representatives from NASA’s granting and policy community will be available to discuss best practices in applying for grant funding, discuss programs relevant to the MSI community, and answer questions about how to apply for NASA grants. Save the date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 12:30 - 1:30 ET. Registration and event link to follow. Please email NASA Grant Policy and Compliance with any questions about this event at hq-dl-grants-policy-compliance@mail.nasa.gov.
Are You a Subject Matter Expert? If so, consider exploring the opportunity to serve in the peer review process! A great way to learn about NASA proposal development is to review proposals submitted to NASA opportunities. Serving as a peer reviewer allows one to learn what’s new in the field, get first-hand experience with the review process, and network with colleagues. Create an NSPIRES account and register your interest to serve as a peer reviewer today! Need assistance setting up your account? Contact nspires-help@nasaprs.com.

Check out NASA TechPort! If you are looking for information about NASA-developed technologies that can be utilized or built-upon, or to see where there may be gaps to fill, check out NASA TechPort. Showcasing NASA’s portfolio of active and completed technology projects, TechPort contains information for over 15,000 NASA-developed technologies, representing over $12 billion in applied research and experimental development investments. TechPort allows technologists and researchers to find technologies by organization, maturity, technology area/discipline, and work location. Each record has detailed information about the development including the benefits provided, research findings, partners/collaborators, points of contact, and more. Take a tour of the website and see how your research and expertise may be able to connect to NASA technologies.
Students can gain hands-on experience working at NASA! Visit NASA’s Internship Program website for pertinent information about programs and deadlines, and to receive guidance about best practices that can be used in the application process. The Summer Internship Program deadline is March 1, 2023.
NASA’s Gateways to Blue Skies: Clean Aviation Energy Competition is now open. In the push toward net-zero emissions by 2050, NASA seeks to crowdsource ideas for potential new clean aviation energy sources. Through the 2023 Blue Skies Competition, teams of two to six students will conceptualize and analyze the climate impacts along the source-to-flight lifecycle of one potential, primary clean aviation energy source of the future, and create a five- to seven-page research proposal and two-minute video summary. Finalist teams will receive a $6,000 stipend to participate in the 2023 Blue Skies Forum at a NASA center in June 2023. Winners are eligible for NASA internships in the academic year following the competition. Proposal and video submissions are due February 28, 2023. For questions, contact BlueSkies@nianet.org.
Become a NASA Partnership Eclipse Ambassador! NASA and the Astronomical Society of the Pacific are inviting undergraduate students to become Eclipse Ambassadors and help prepare their community for a pair of exciting celestial events! Two solar eclipses will cross North America: an annular solar eclipse on Oct 14, 2023, and a total solar eclipse on Apr 8, 2024. Hundreds of college students across the country will be partnered with amateur astronomers to bring eclipse science, safe viewing techniques, and cultural connections for the eclipses to their communities as trained Eclipse Ambassadors. The project hopes to reach 500 communities across the country, with a particular emphasis on connecting with traditionally underserved audiences. We ask students, of any major, to join us to learn new skills, make connections, and share their enthusiasm about eclipses and science with the public! Click here to learn more!
