UOG Offers Meal Plans to Dorm Students

University of GuamDormitory residents gather to eat together in the newly renovated cafeteria located on the second floor of Guma'ta Hall.

Eating on campus just became more convenient for University of Guam dormitory residents.

This semester, the Residence Hall Office (RHO) implemented a meal plan program for all dorm students. Throughout the week, all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner are served in the newly renovated cafeteria located on the second floor of Guma'ta Hall. Students are also served lunch on Saturdays and dinner on Sundays.

The plan includes a variety of meals, including vegan options, available for $800 per semester.

“We really wanted to improve the campus experience for students,” said Residence Halls Director Jonathan Triplett. “Providing healthy meals right here in the dorms to students who work hard was an obvious next step in that process.”

Most who live in the dorms are international students from around the Micronesian region. For some, having a place to eat and nutritious options make living on campus a better experience.

“I really like having these meals here,” said sophomore dorm resident Don Sulet who’s double majoring in Secondary Education and English. “The food is good, and it’s better than going off campus all the time, especially if you don’t have a car.”

In the last year, RHO has also implemented a bike share program for all students on campus and created the Triton Express convenience store located on the first floor of Dorm I. It has also renovated dorm rooms on the second floor of Iya-hami Hall and first and second floor of Guma'ta Hall, which include the painting of each of the rooms, new carpeted floors, new light fixtures, refinished furniture, new desks and dressers, new mattresses and Wi-Fi available in every room and lounge space.
