The University of Guam Society of Emeritus Professors and Retired Scholars (SEPRS) has recognized agriculture advocate Victor Artero and longtime Professor of Biology Dr. Christopher Lobban as new members.

SEPRS engages in numerous academic, research, and service activities each year and continue to help the University achieve its mission.

Victor Artero

An alumnus of the University of Guam, Artero’s academic disciplines include Agricultural Economics and Business Management. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration from UOG in 1975 and a Master of Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa in 1978.

Artero worked at the University of Guam for many years, both as an educator and administrator. Artero began his UOG career as a Biological Aide for the Land Grant Programs in 1973. Over the years, Artero taught for the then-College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, concurrently serving as Deputy Director for the Guam Department of Agriculture for three years. He achieved tenure status at UOG in 1991.

After retiring in 2000, Artero continued working with the University through 2014 under contract.

Dr. Christopher Lobban

A professor of Biology, Lobban began teaching at the University of Guam since 1988. Lobban’s specialties include science education, microscopy and biodiversity of microbial eukaryotes.

Lobban became a full professor at UOG in 1992 and has taught undergraduate courses including Plant Diversity, Cellular Physiology, Marine Botany, Science Communication, and Environmental Biology.

Lobban retired from his teaching position in September 2015 to spend more time pursuing his research in diatoms.
