James Sellman Two articles written by the University of Guam Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dr. James Sellmann were published last year in prominent journals focusing on East Asian studies and thought.

This first article titled “On Valuing What is Fitting, the Guidang Chapter of the Lüshi Chunqiu and Solving Moral Problems” was published in the Journal of East-West Thought in September.

The article questions if material and moral connections exist between wealth and moral values, exploring insights from ancient China—especially the text of Lüshi Chunqiu.

The second, a book review titled “Review of Zhuangzi’s Critique of the Confucians: Blinded by the Human, by K.C. Chong, was published in the Taiwan Journal of East Asian Studies in December.

Sellmann is a professor of Philosophy, Micronesian Studies, and Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Guam. He specializes in Chinese and Comparative Philosophy. He has been with UOG for nearly 26 years.
