UOG to Host 9th Regional Conference on Island Sustainability

3/21/2018

The University of Guam is excited to announce the 9th Annual Regional Conference on Island Sustainability on March 27 to 30, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Guam Resort. For nearly a decade, the sustainability conferences spearheaded regional discussion on climate change, energy, and natural resources.

CIS 2018 Save the DateThis year, our conference moves us forward with the theme “Island Alliance for Sustainable Action.” Leaders in sustainability from Micronesia, Asia, and the United States will be participating in this conference. And as a special feature, UOG President Robert Underwood will host distinguished guests from across the globe for a Presidential Summit of Island University and College presidents to launch the conference on March 27.

The purpose of this summit is to gather the presidents of island universities and colleges to discuss common strategies and activities for island institutions to develop unique approaches to research problems. These discussions will cultivate stronger relationships with our fellow island communities who are facing similar challenges due to geographic remoteness and related factors.

And for the first time, the conference will host a public community night on Wednesday, March 28 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency Guam. Food vendors, entertainment, and exhibits will be free and open for the public to enjoy.

Please join us for our media press conference on Monday, March 26 at the Hyatt Regency Guam at 10 am in the foyer of the grand ballroom. RSVP with UOG Science Communicator Rebecca Elmore at rebecca@uog.edu for your attendance.
