Lee Yudin

Dr. Lee S. Yudin, dean/director of the University of Guam’s College of Natural & Applied Sciences, was elected to serve on the 2019 Policy Board of Directors for the Board on Agriculture Assembly. Yudin will specifically serve as the insular/territorial institutions director.

“This board drives the academic, research, and Cooperative Extension activities of the whole system. Having a dean from our island on that board is powerful,” said Dr. Sereana Dresbach, associate director of the college’s Cooperative Extension & Outreach program. “UOG is the voice of insular areas — we ensure that activities, actions, policy, and messages include insular areas, not exclude or forget our needs.”

The Board on Agriculture Assembly is a unit of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) Commission on Food, Environment, and Renewable Resources. The purpose of the board is the promotion of agriculture in all of its phases — food, environment, agriculture, natural resources, and international — in the state universities and land-grant colleges of the states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the territories of the Pacific, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Board on Agriculture Assembly is comprised of the following sections: Academic Programs; Administrative Heads; Cooperative Extension; Experiment Station; and International Agriculture.

Yudin will travel to New Orleans this month to attend the first meeting of the Policy Board of Directors.

A listing of the 2019 Policy Board of Directors can be found on the Board on Agriculture Assembly page of www.aplu.orghttp://www.aplu.org. The actions of the Policy Board of Directors may be tracked through their minutes and section reports posted here.
