Triton Athletics names second UOG Athletics Hall of Fame class
The University of Guam Triton Athletics Department named its second Hall of Fame class of awardees on Oct. 1. The Class of 2018 features nine former UOG athletes who will be inducted into the Triton Athletics Hall of Fame on Sunday, Oct. 28, at the UOG Calvo Field House.
The ceremony will feature a reception that begins at noon with the program beginning at 12:30 p.m. Each awardee will be given 10 minutes to speak on their time at the University and other memories of Guam national teams and other leagues on the island.
The Class of 2018 includes the following nine former UOG athletes who represented the University in past athletics programs:
Art Rabon, Defense
Lawrence Johnson, Running Back
David Nelson, Player
David Zimms, Player
There will be a “Hall of Fame” Basketball Game at 3 p.m. on that day featuring the UOG Tritons against the Andersen Bombers. At half-time, the awardees will be inducted into the Triton Athletics Hall of Fame.
The awardees will then take their official pictures for the Hall of Fame as the basketball game concludes.
UOG Athletics Director Douglas W. Palmer said he is excited about the Class of 2018. “I think we truly have a great class of awardees. I was able to find some folks I knew existed last year but could not find out their names until this year. We are truly blessed to find some great contributors to UOG Athletics."
Last year, Triton Athletics inducted the first class of Hall of Famers, which featured six awardees: John Borden for football; Susan Lupola for women’s basketball; Tommy Morrison for baseball; Hauhout Diambra-Odi for men’s soccer; Ronald Camacho for football; and Theresa Sison for women’s basketball.
If anyone knows any family members of Lawrence Johnson, please contact Doug Palmer at UOG at (671) 735-2862 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
