Storyboard 17The University of Guam launched the 17th issue of its literary journal, “Storyboard,” on Feb. 26 in the atrium of the UOG Tan Lam Pek Kim English & Communications Building. The journal features a compilation of 34 works of poetry, prose, and visual art exploring the unique identity, culture, and history of the people of Guam and the greater Micronesian region.

The pieces were selected by an editorial board of UOG faculty members. All submissions were required to be of the theme “Mumun Linahyan,” which translates from CHamoru to English as the uprising of a group of people, or a revolution.

“The collection is a creative platform for the changes Guam has seen through political uprisings and the people’s commitment to raise their voices for change,” said Holly Rustick, editor for the journal. “It offers insight into the forces that have propelled the people of Guam and Micronesia forward.”

Many of the writers and artists featured in “Storyboard 17” were at the launch to share and discuss their work.

The journal is a partnership between the UOG Division of English & Applied Linguistics in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the University of Guam Press in an effort to foster and promote Oceanic literature.
