The Guam GENE-ius children’s science program at the University of Guam is now accepting registrants for multi-week sessions held on Saturdays in September and October. For the first time, the complete program will be offered for first through third graders and seventh through ninth graders, in addition to the program for fourth to sixth graders that has typically been offered.
“This has been a very popular program since our first class in 2018, so we are pleased to announce the expansion and are encouraging parents to register their children early,” said Kamille Wang, program manager for Guam GENE-ius. “We hope to see both new and familiar faces this coming fall. It will be an exciting time of exploration and discovery.”
The day program teaches children about the world of science through fun, interactive, and thought-provoking hands-on activities and experiments in a university setting. Students will have the opportunity to become scientists and explore the world of science through grade-appropriate curriculum. The program will foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills, stimulate curiosity, and build an overall passion for science.
The Guam GENE-ius program is hosted by Cooperative Extension & Outreach at the University of Guam’s College of Natural & Applied Sciences, in collaboration with University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

The Guam GENE-ius schedule for each grade group is as follows:
Grades 1-3
- Seven-week program
- Session 1: 10 a.m. – Noon
- Session 2: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- When: Saturdays, Sept. 14 – Oct. 26
- Location: Agriculture & Life Sciences Building, University of Guam
- Cost: $100 per student
Grades 4-6
- Seven-week program
- Session 1: 10 a.m. – Noon
- Session 2: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
- When: Saturdays, Sept. 14 – Oct. 26
- Location: Science Building, University of Guam
- Cost: $100 per student
Grades 7-9
- Three-week program
- Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
- When: Saturdays, Sept. 14 – Oct. 5
- Location: Science Building, University of Guam
- Cost: $85 per student
Registration ends on Sept. 6 and is limited to 24 students per session. Spot availability in each class will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to high demand, completed registration forms and payments must be received to secure a spot in the program.
