UOG Tritons Isaiah Macias drives to the goal during a Nov. 2 match-up against the Sidekicks Soccer Club.

The University of Guam Triton Men’s Soccer Team and Sidekicks Soccer Club played a well-matched game Saturday night in the Guam Football Association’s Budweiser Soccer League Premier Division at the GFA National Training Center that ended with a 1-0 victory for the Sidekicks.

Both teams were hungry for a win, both going into week three of the season without wins, but their energy was stifled by weather conditions, with players slipping on the field and unable to execute their game plans.

The Tritons played a strong defensive game, successfully defending their goal until the final 10 minutes, when the Sidekicks seized an opportunity to put the ball in the net. It would remain the sole goal of the game, giving the Sidekicks their first win of the season for a record of 1-2 and taking the Tritons to 0-2.

With the loss, the Tritons drop to 0-2 for the season, while the Sidekicks improve to 1-2.

The Tritons play again at 8:30 p.m. this Saturday against Quality Distributors at the GFA National Training Center in week four of the 18-week league.
