The University of Guam Triton Men’s Basketball Team took a single-point win over the FSAG All-Stars on Sunday with a 3-point shot made at the last second. The final score of 80-79 takes the Tritons to a 2-2 standing in the league, while the All-Stars drop to 0-4 in the Triton Men’s Basketball League.

The Tritons picked up momentum early in the first quarter moving the ball quickly with Logan Hopkins securing 10 points. Michael Quan added five points as well and made 10 rebounds to put the team ahead 20-13 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the FSAG All-Stars increased pressure on defense, and with eight points by Will Davis, the team came one basket closer to the lead with a score of 38-33 at halftime.

The Tritons continued to dominate coming out of halftime, gaining their largest lead of the game at 49-37, but John Chaco of the All-Stars went to work scoring 10 of the 12 points that made up the largest scoring run of the game, bringing the FSAG All-Stars within one basket of the lead at 54-52 at the close of the third. Quan’s eight points in the quarter helped defend the Tritons' lead.

The final quarter had the Tritons up by nine points halfway through, but the All-Stars closed the gap again bringing the game to a 77-point tie. The All-Stars’ John Chaco made what appeared to be a victorious two-point shot in the final seconds before it was answered by a 3-point hook shot from the Tritons’ Jerod Boles just before the buzzer, putting the Tritons one point ahead to win the game.

Leading the Tritons in scoring were Hopkins with 27 points, Quan with 19, and Boles with 18. Boles led the team in percentage of field goals made at 50%. For the All-Stars, John Chaco led the team with 22 points and a scoring percentage of 64%, followed by Eric Reyes with 16 and Sandy Fejeran with 15.
