The University of Guam Triton Men’s Soccer Team dug deep for two goals in the second half of their game against Quality Distributors on Saturday night to tie the match 3-3 and earn their first point of the season in the Guam Football Association’s Budweiser Premier League standings.

Both teams started the match with an early goal. On the first Quality push down the field, the UOG defense could not get the ball out of the box area, leading to Marvin Redona of the Distributors scoring a goal in the first two minutes. But the Tritons answered at the five-minute mark with a goal by Shashikant Kotwal on a header from a corner kick.

Redona scored another goal at the 15-minute mark, and the Distributors held a 2-1 lead until halftime.

Ernest Baah scored the Distributors’ third goal in the first five minutes of the second half, and it looked like the Tritons were headed toward their third defeat in as many games of the season, but UOG started to put pressure on the Quality defense and control the pace of the match.

Hezekiah Cruz scored the second goal for the Tritons on a fast break, and freshman Phoenix Pahl tied the game on another fast break goal 10 minutes later.

The Tritons are now 0-2-1 on the season, while Quality Distributors is 2-1-1.

For their next game, the Tritons will face five-time Premier League champions, the NAPA Rovers, at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the GFA National Training Center.
