World Theater Productions donates $10K for Triton Athletics scholarships
(From left) Athletics Director Doug Palmer; Katrina Perez, interim executive director, Endowment Foundation; President Thomas W. Krise, all with UOG; Margarita Dancel, executive producer and choreographer; Shelly Calvo, executive producer; and Paul Calvo, all three with World Theater Productions.
The University of Guam Endowment Foundation received a $10,000 check from World Theater Productions prior to the company's opening performance of "Mamma Mia" on Sept. 6 at the Calvo Field House. The donation, which was part of the proceeds from the show's ticket sales, will sponsor scholarships for student-athletes in the Triton Athletics varsity sports programs.
Each UOG varsity sport -- men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, and women's soccer -- will receive $2,500 to award to student-athletes in the 2019-2020 or 2020-2021 school years. The funds should result in 12 to 15 scholarships.
