Subject: Important Information About the Fanuchånan 2021 Semester

Håfa Adai, Tritons:

We are very excited to welcome you back to the University of Guam campus for the Fanuchånan 2021 semester. We are proud of all of our students, faculty, and staff and their commitment to UOG’s mission despite more than a year of hosting primarily online classes and many of our employees working remotely.

Your health and safety and that of our faculty and staff continue to be our top priorities as we plan for this academic year. Below is important information regarding the Fanuchånan 2021 semester.

Direct Grant Aid for Students

As part of the third round of federal funding from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF), UOG will distribute up to $6 million to eligible students in 2021-2022. This is an increase from the nearly $4.56 million distributed directly to eligible students last academic year through HEERF I and II.

We will soon be announcing new financial relief and support programs for students enrolled in the 2021- 2022 academic year. This includes $2 million in direct grant aid for all eligible students registered for classes during the Fanuchånan 2021 and Fañomnåkan 2022 semesters.

We have also launched the UOG Cares Emergency Grant Program, a needs-based financial aid program that will provide up to $5,000 grants to eligible students. The program is now accepting applications. Read more about the program and apply here.

Mi-Fi Mobile High-Speed Internet

The UOG Office of Information Technology is providing Mi-Fi devices for students needing a high-speed Internet connection at home. This service is FREE for students registered this semester, but quantities are limited. IT&E representatives will be on campus at the Computer Center beginning from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18. Arrangements for distribution outside these hours can be scheduled by emailing helpdesk@triton.uog.edu.

Green Zones

Several "Green Zones" are available on campus, providing students with high-speed Internet access and safe, sanitized spaces to study, work on projects, and stay current with their class assignments. Green Zones feature: high-speed wireless Internet; cleaned and sanitized stations, private spaces when you need alone time; and multiple locations around the campus. Find out more on the Green Zones webpage.

Fanuchånan Break

There will be a mid-semester break from Oct. 11-17, 2021, during which there will be no classes, no assignment deadlines, no exams, and no faculty meetings. Assignment deadlines may be scheduled immediately before or after the break; however, class projects may be due before or after the break. Practicum or internship activities, where students follow the schedule of a professional working environment, should continue as scheduled with the external organization.

Alternative Grading Option

For the Fanuchånan 2021 semester, UOG will again be offering the alternative grading option. For each undergraduate course completed, students will have the option of replacing their letter grade earned with an alternative grade that will not affect GPA calculations. Forms are available from Admissions & Records, and deadlines correspond with voluntary and involuntary withdrawal deadlines. For more information, contact your school or college dean's office.

Bursar’s Office

Tuition payment for this semester is due on Aug. 26. For more information on payments, payment plans, and deadlines, contact the Bursar’s Office at (671) 735-2945/46 or email bursar@triton.uog.edu.
