Fresh & Frugal cooking series for young adults launches Oct. 4
A new, hands-on cooking series designed just for young adults is set to launch this October from the University of Guam Land Grant Extension Service. The Fresh & Frugal Cooking Class is a four-part workshop tailored for participants ages 18–25 who are interested in learning how to cook delicious, nutritious, and budget-friendly meals using fresh, local ingredients.
The workshops — offered free of charge — will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on the following Saturdays at the Maite Pay-Less EduKitchen:
Using the “Eating Smart, Being Active” curriculum developed by Colorado State University for the federal Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program, the classes will teach healthy, affordable eating habits but will have a special focus on locally grown fruits and vegetables. Additionally, each class will involve a hands-on cooking portion, featuring simple recipes to equip young adults with the knowledge and inspiration to cook nutritious meals at home.
Participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions. Those who complete the full series will receive a certificate of completion as well as some free tools and resources.
Space is limited, and advanced registration is required. To register, visit https://url.uog.edu/fresh or call (671) 735-2020/30 or email Elaine de Leon at deleone7367@triton.uog.edu or Gabby Quenga at gquenga@triton.uog.edu.
