Raiki Ueda Leon Guerrero has been selected as the winner of the 2025 Triton Art Contest, sponsored by the University of Guam’s Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, Academic and Student Affairs.

The contest was open to all current UOG students and invited them to submit original artwork in any medium reflecting the theme of “Tritons Thriving Together.” Artists were encouraged to think about how compassion, collaboration, and mutual support help the Triton community grow, learn, and thrive—both inside and beyond the classroom at UOG.

“The contest was an opportunity for our students to showcase their talent and creativity while simultaneously demonstrating their understanding of the Triton experience,” said Dr. Sharleen Santos-Bamba, Senior Vice President and Provost. “It was exciting to see the diverse range of artistic styles and interpretations of the contest theme.”

Leon Guerrero’s artwork, a mixed media piece titled “Believe,” was created using markers and color pencils. The junior CHamoru Studies for Education major drew inspiration from the camaraderie he feels in his program, as well as from the overall experience at UOG.

“I could not have come this far without my peers, and I really appreciate them for always giving support and encouragement. The artwork reflects that bond,” said Leon Guerrero. “My inspiration also comes from everyday life at UOG where students in each of the departments hang out with their peers or just help and get to know one another.”

In addition to having his winning artwork featured on the Senior Vice President’s next greeting card, Leon Guerrero received a $500 prize and recognition certificate.
