Who We Are

INCLUDES TEAM

Mission: 

The SEAS Islands Alliance will engage URM students in the marine and environmental sciences by illuminating a full career pathway and increase their sense of belonging in STEM by connecting them across island hubs.

Vision Statement: 

Island scientists leading connected STEM enterprises at home and across the globe.

Guiding Principles:

Goals & Strategies: 

  • Goal 1: Create a community that is educated and capable in the marine and environmental sciences to solve pressing environmental challenges in our unique biodiversity

    • On-going opportunities for students to engage in place-based science researchvolunteerism, and professional development. 
    • Connect science experiences with cultural identity
    • Connect student, family, and community in marine and environmental endeavors through social media and outreach
  • Goal 2: Build and connect Guam Hub participants to marine and environmental science networks at home and across the globe
    • Participation at  local and national conferences
    • Networking regionally and globally
  • Goal 3: Build up workforce and diversity of industries that address existing and emerging science and sustainability needs of Guam and island communities. 
    • Foster students into successful STEM careers
    • Build an awareness and presence of a work  beyond research in the science field
    • Create and refine industries for workforce
