UOG Men's And Women's Soccer Returns 2 More Players Each From 2017-18 To Play In 2018-19

The University of Guam Men's and Women's Soccer Team returns more players from their successful 2017-18 teams to play in 2018-19 for the Lady Tritons and the Tritons.

On the UOG Women's Soccer Team, Koholali'i Maertens and Ariya Cruz return to the Lady Tritons from their fall of 2017 Guam Football Association's Bud Light D2 Women's League Championship Team.

For the UOG Men's Soccer Team, Joseph Quan and James Wang return to the 2018-19 team after the most successful Triton Men's Soccer Team since the early 1990s went 14-5-1 and finished 3rd in the GFA Budweiser Premier League.

Ariya Cruz was named the UOG Women's Soccer Team "Most Valuable Player" in 2017-18. She is from Okkodo High School where she played as a midfielder. She was All-Island First Team and Captain of the girls soccer team for the Bulldogs. She also has Guam National Team experience as a youth player.

Koholali'i Maertens is the anchor of the UOG defense and has won "Best Defensive Player" both years of the modern Lady Triton program. She played her high school soccer on Hawaii and was Captain of her team and won a Hawaii Prep Championship. She won an academic scholarship to attend college and was on the President's List and Dean's List.

James Wang has played multiple positions for UOG the past two seasons, including goalkeeper when needed. James played four seasons for the EuroCar Football Club as a wing and goalkeeper before joining the Tritons.

Joseph Quan has developed into an offensive threat for the Tritons over the past two seasons from the left wing position and hopes to increase his goal production for 2018-19. Joe played for Father Duenas Memorial School and was a 2nd Team All-Island player and the team finished 3rd in the IIAAG Playoffs during his high school career. He earned a Regent Scholarship (academic) as a sophomore at UOG.

The UOG Soccer Teams will begin practice later in August for the 2018-19 season and play will begin in September or early October for both teams.
