The University of Guam Triton Men’s Basketball Team dropped a game 141-98 to the KFC Bombers on Monday night in the Triton Men’s Basketball League in the UOG Calvo Field House. The loss brings UOG to 1-2 in the league, while the KFC Bombers remain undefeated at 3-0.

The Tritons hung with the Bombers for much of the first half trailing by five points after the first quarter and claiming their only lead of 35-34 in the second quarter. The one-point lead came after their best run of the game — eight straight points midway through period.

But the Tritons lost momentum at the end of the first half after receiving a technical foul, and the Bombers pulled ahead by 11 points by halftime.

The Bombers exploded in the third quarter accumulating 46 points in the period. The Bombers kept the UOG team from crossing midcourt on five straight possessions, giving the Bombers easy repeat layups to put the game out of reach.

UOG was down 112-79 at the end of the third period and went on to lose 141-98.

Michael Quan was the bright spot for UOG, scoring 47 points, while Logan Hopkins added 20 points.

The Bombers were led Timothy Adside and Andra Bailey with 28 points each while Vincent Hill-Ester scored 26 points.

The Tritons play again at 2 p.m. this Sunday against the FSAG All-Stars. The game will be live streamed on the Triton Athletics YouTube channel. The Bombers will face Team Gatorade at 4 p.m. on that Sunday as well.

In the opening game of the night, Team Wu-Tang defeated the FSAG All-Stars 87-86 in a game with a controversial ending.

Team Wu-Tang took a big first-quarter lead over the All-Stars at 29-12, but the All-Stars made a comeback trailing by five points at the end of the half, 45-40. FSAG took the lead after the third period 62-61, and the scoreboard went back-and-forth throughout the fourth period.

With just a few seconds left in the game, Team Wu-Tang was at the foul line with an 86-84 lead. The free throw went in for an 87-84 Wu-Tang lead, but then a referee waived the made shot, and the scoreboard showed 86-84. During an FSAG All-Stars timeout, the referees met and put the foul shot back on the scoreboard. The All-Stars drove to the basket at the buzzer to score two points but were still down by one point to lose the game.

Team Wu-Tang is now 1-2 on the season while the FSAG All-Stars are 0-3. The FSAG All-Stars play the Four Stars at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the Calvo Field House, while Team Wu-Tang takes on Team Gatorade at 8:15 p.m.
