Research Matters is a new editorial series from the University of Guam Office of Research and Sponsored Programs that brings readers into the world of UOG’s research centers. The column runs every other Monday in the PDN.

The University of Guam Marine Laboratory is known across the Pacific and beyond for its coral reef research and conservation work. But every May, right after the full moon, its scientists take on a more whimsical role—playing matchmaker for Guam’s coral.
