President's Medal

President's Medal | Milåyan Presidenten

Established in 2022, during the 70th anniversary of the founding of the University of Guam, the President’s Medal (Milåyan Presidenten) recognizes individuals who demonstrate the spirit of the mission of the University of Guam—Ina, Deskubre, Setbe—by way of significant service to the communities in which they live.

President’s Medals are a means to recognize service and showcase the role service has in creating vibrant communities in Guam, the rest of Micronesia, and beyond. Service can take many forms:  sharing one’s expertise, indigenous knowledge, organizational skills, outreach abilities, outstanding personal or professional endeavors that complement the University’s mission, or other ways individuals make positive impacts through service.

Candidates must be viewed by the university community as individuals who have made significant accomplishments. Nominees should be those individuals whose public recognition brings honor to the University. Successful candidates are deemed to embody the values and culture our University seeks to foster and uphold.

Criteria

Nominees should demonstrate service to the University of Guam and/or to the following values:

  • Diversity
  • Community Engagement
  • Sustainability
  • Innovation
  • Productivity
  • Providing support and/or organizational networks

The President’s Medal is awarded to individuals for service to UOG itself or to Guam, the region, or the world in ways that complement the mission of UOG.

This award is open to anyone who is not a current employee of UOG or the Research Corporation of the University of Guam or a current Regent of the University.  It recognizes individuals whose work demonstrates a commitment to serving others and the communities in which they live.

Nominations must include:

  • Recommendation Letter
  • Curriculum Vitae of the candidate

Self-nominations will not be accepted.  The deadline to submit nominations is July 29, 2022, 5pm.
