The Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) is a regional organization created by the Western Regional Education Compact and adopted in the 1950s by Western states. WICHE was created to facilitate resource sharing among the higher education systems of the West. It implements a number of activities to accomplish its objectives. Gain affordable access to higher education. Through enrollment at cooperating campus-based programs, WICHE's student access programs offer a broad range of options for students at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.
The Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP) is coordinated by WICHE and provides a tuition rate of 150% of resident graduate tuition. WRGP/WICHE is intended for those who can prove residency in a qualified WRGP/WICHE state and who are admitted to an approved UOG program.
The 15 participating states are the following: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.
Students must have one (1) year of residency in a qualified WRGP/WICHE state. Proof of eligibility can be demonstrated by submitting one of the following items:
Application must be received with the eligibility document at least ONE WEEK prior to start of the semester. Applications received after will be considered for the future term.
Online programs are not eligible for WRGP/WICHE.

No. Once you have been approved, you will remain approved throughout your program for one academic year. After one academic year of continuous enrollment, your status will change to resident and resident tuition will apply.

Applicants will be notified 2-3 days after receipt of requirements via email once applications have been evaluated and a decision has been made.
