Dr. ShinHwa Lee joined the University of Guam in January 2020. She previously worked at Eastern New Mexico University as an assistant professor, graduate coordinator, and program leader of the Counseling Program for five years. Lee is a Texas Licensed Professional Counselor and has clinical experience with children and parents under the Child Protective Services, victims of domestic violence, at-risk students, and in-and-out patients at a psychiatric hospital. Lee’s scholarly interests include multiculturalism, wellness, and early childhood mental health.

Core faculty for the Proposed EdD Program and serves in multiple roles as an instructor for Elementary Teacher Preparation Program and in Partnership with SOE Distance Learning Programs. The area of outreach and learning research topics connecting engagement with teaching partners and linguistic learners in Guam and beyond our borders.

Dr. Dean Olah joined the faculty of the School of Education at UOG after teaching at Campbell University in North Carolina for the past five years. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in music education at the University of Toledo, received a Master of School Administration (MSA) degree from Campbell University and holds a ddegree of Doctor of Education (Ed. D.) from North Carolina State University in the School of Technology Engineering and Design. Additionally, he is a licensed A+ and Network+ Computer Technician, a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and Trainer (MCT).
With experience working at every level in education including elementary general music, middle and high school band, collegiate and business vocational technology training and administration, as well as university graduate school, he is also a former elementary school principal. His primary areas of scholastic interest are foundational education, instructional technology, vocational studies, educational leadership and music education.
Dr. Olah is an active member of ITEEA (International Technology and Engineering Educators Association), Epsilon Pi Tau (leading international honors society for technology) and MENC (Music Educators National Conference). He has recently collaborated with a leading educational pedagogue, Dr. Harry Wong, to assist educators integrating technology as a tool in classroom management.
In his spare time, Dr. Olah enjoys playing the trombone and has performed professionally with numerous classical and jazz ensembles in Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina and internationally in Europe and the Middle East. He and his wife Molly (an educator and professional violinist) enjoy traveling and outdoor activities such as snorkeling, hiking and tennis.

Dr. Rivera, a UOG alumna, first joined the University of Guam as an adjunct professor in 2002. She most recently served as an ESL Coordinator/Teacher for the Guam Department of Education for over 24 years. She now serves as the Interim Program Chair for the Reading Master’s Program. She is Past President of the Guam Council of the International Literacy Association (ILA), Guam Public Library System Board Member, D204 Lions Clubs International Reading Action Program Chair, USCG Auxiliary District 14 Division Staff Officer for Public Education, former AmeriCorps volunteer, past Chair and member of the Guam Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC), member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), lifetime member of the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE), member of Ta Tuge’ Mo’na writing organization, as well as the webmaster for the Guam ILA, USCG Auxiliary Guam Flotilla, Pacific Islands Bilingual Bicultural Association (PIBBA), UOG-SOE Alumni Association, Ginen I Hila I Maga' Taotao Siha Association, Guam Nikkei Association, and Guahan Isan Famagu’on Lions Club. Dr. Rivera holds a Guahan Commission for Educator Certification as a MASTER EDUCATOR in the following specializations: Early Childhood Pre K-2, Elementary Education K-5. Reading K-12, and ESL K-12.

Cheryl R. Sangueza, a UOG alumna, joined the University of Guam in 2010. Prior to this time, she was a secondary math and science teacher for 13 years and taught in New York, Washington, and Guam. She is currently the Program Chair for the M.Ed in Innovations in Teaching and Learning.
Dr. Sangueza serves as the Co-PI for the NSF Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES: SEAS Islands Alliance and is the coordinator for UOG EPSCoR student programs. She is also the PI for the Alfred P. Sloan grant which addresses successful pathways to research and graduate studies. Her expertise and passion in teaching and learning, science education, and sense of belonging shapes her work with all university levels, in research, and in education and science communities.
