Interim Dean/Professor of Civil Engineering
Dr. Shahram Khosrowpanah (Dr. K) was appointed as the interim dean of the new School of Engineering after having served as the director of UOG's Water & Environmental Research Institute for three terms. Khosrowpanah is a professional civil engineer and professor of water resources engineering with more than 32 years of experience in research, teaching, and engineering practices in the area of water resources in Guam and the other islands of the Western Pacific.
Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering (Structural)
Dr. Kong joined UOG's School of Engineering in 2019. Prior to this appointment, he was a structural engineer at SSOE Group in Portland, Ore. During his time at SSOE Group, he performed structural analyses and seismic designs for industrial structures in the semiconductor industry. He also had five years of structural engineering experience in China and internship experience at Thornton Tomasetti in Kansas City, Mo. He has been a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Missouri since 2016 and a registered Structural Engineer (S.E.) in Nebraska since 2017.
Kong completed his doctorate training in civil engineering at the University of Kansas in 2018. His doctoral research focuses on fatigue crack inspection of steel highway bridges using smart sensing technologies. His research interests include structural health monitoring, machine learning, earthquake engineering, numerical simulation, and computer vision applications in civil engineering.
During his free time, he likes watching movies and hiking.
