President Krise has issued the following statement on the riot at the U.S. Capitol:

Yesterday's assault on the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C., is deeply distressing to me and the whole UOG community.  As members of an institution dedicated to the pursuit of truth and the great American Land Grant idea of civic responsibility, watching thousands of people incited to riot and attack a Joint Session of our Congress is one we never thought possible in this country.

I applaud the many statements of condemnation of this behavior and join the chorus of demands that leaders at all levels adhere to their oaths of office and ensure the preservation and continuation of constitutional, democratic government in our country. I challenge all of us at UOG to redouble our efforts to promote civic responsibility, respectful dialog, and the basic tenets of citizenship in a free society.
