  • The University of Guam and Northern Marianas College have launched the CNMI Green Growth Kupu Conservation Corps in Saipan, expanding regional efforts to build a sustainable Pacific workforce. Modeled after Guam’s successful G3 Conservation Corps, the program trains young professionals in environmental stewardship and green economy careers through UOG CIS & Sea Grant, CNMI GG, and Kupu Hawai‘i.

  • The University of Guam’s Guam Green Growth (G3) Circular Economy Makerspace and Innovation Hub will host two workshops this October at CHamoru Village—a Fiber Laser Engraver Workshop on Oct. 23 and a Finanåguen Tinifok Katupat Weaving Workshop on Oct. 30. The events blend cultural preservation and modern innovation, offering participants the chance to explore both traditional CHamoru craftsmanship and advanced digital fabrication.

  • The University of Guam’s Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit (CESU) drives collaborative conservation across island and ocean ecosystems, supporting coral reef monitoring, native plant restoration, endangered species protection, and marine archaeology. Since 2010, UOG CESU has joined a national network of more than 300 partners dedicated to preserving natural and cultural resources.

  • The University of Guam’s new Research Education and Extension Fellowship (REEF) program offers paid internships that integrate sustainability across all disciplines—not just science majors. Open to students from Guam, the CNMI, and the Pacific, the program provides mentorship, career development, and hands-on experience in building a sustainable future.
