Skype for Business

Skype for Business is enterprise audio call, video call, and instant messaging software developed by Microsoft as part of the Microsoft Office suite. It is available to University of Guam Faculty and Staff as part of your Office 365 license.

Getting Started

  1. Go to https://portal.office.com/account
  2. Go to Apps & devices, on the left menu
  3. Click Install Skype
    • An .exe (Windows) or a .dmg (Mac) file will start to download
  4. Once download is complete, run or double click the file to begin the installation
  5. After the installation is complete, launch the Skype for Business app
  6. Accept the license agreement
  7. Sign-in to your Office 365 account
  8. You are now ready to use the Skype for Business

Graphic: Download Skype for Business on the Apps & devices section in your Account Settings in Office 365 and click Install Skype

 

  1. Open the Skype for Business app
  2. Enter your university email credentials
  3. Click Sign In
  4. Go to the Meeting tab (calendar icon)
  5. Click on Meet Now
  6. A new window will show
  7. Select Use Skype for Business (full audio and video experience)
  8. Click OK
  9. Click on the ellipses (three dots), at the bottom right
  10. Click on Meeting Entry Info
  11. Copy the Meeting link and share it to designated users

Download these Instructions

  1. Your colleage (or instructor) will send you an invite to a meeting, which will contain a link to Join online meeting
  2. Click Join online meeting
  3. You will be asked How would you like to join your meeting? Select one of the options to join the meeting.
    • Option 1: Install and join with Skype Meetings App (web)
    • Option 2: Join with Skype for Business (desktop)
  4. If you select Option 1it will install the web app
    • Click Open Skype Meetings App
    • A new window will open
    • Enter your name or choose to sign in
    • Click Join
    • The meeting will load and you will see the guests/presenters
  5. If you select Option 2, it will open you in your desktop app
    • Click Open Skype for Business
    • Your desktop app will open
    • Sign in to your Triton account
    • The meeting will load and you will see the guests/presenters

Note: this feature is only available for Windows at this time

  1. Click on the ellipses (three dots), at the bottom right
  2. Click on Start Recording to begin recording
    • Note: people on your call will see that you've started a recording
  3. To stop the recording, ellipses (three dots)
  4. Click on Stop Recording
  5. A Skype for Business Recording Manager window will appear for management of recordings
  6. Recording will be saved at a Lync Recordings folder 
    • File path: C:\Users\[YOUR USER]\Videos\Lync Recordings
