SCHOLARSHIPS

The Yoichi K. and Sharon S. Rengiil TRIO Scholarship is awarded to two students who are participants of the TRIO Student Support Services Program at the University of Guam and meet the scholarship requirements by the application deadline. The intent of this scholarship is to award one applicant who is an alumnus or alumnae of the Educational Talent Search and one alumnus or alumnae of Upward Bound program. If any one of the programs fail to field applicants, the scholarships will be awarded to the next eligible applicants.

The Dr. Mary Spencer Micronesian Studies Scholarship is awarded to one or more students admitted to the Micronesian Studies Master of Arts Program at the University of Guam. 

 

Eligible Scholarship Recipients.  All scholarship applicants must meet the following qualifications:

 

  1. The applicant must be enrolled full-time or part-time at the University of Guam.
  2. The applicant must have an overall 3.0 grade point average at the University of Guam or the last attended institution of learning at the time of his or her application for the scholarship, and he or she must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 throughout the scholarship period.
  3. The applicant must continue to be a student in good standing at the University of Guam during the scholarship period.
  4. The applicant must be a resident of Guam, the Freely Associated States (Republic of the Marshall Islands; Federated States of Micronesia; Republic of Palau), or the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.
  5. Must submit at least one letter of recommendation.

This scholarship is available to current college or university students, graduating high school seniors, and those in the workforce or otherwise occupied who wish to be full time students. It is open for all fields of study.


This scholarship is being offered to US citizens and Guam residents who will be full time students at the UOG, taking at least twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The GWC will pay up to fifteen (15) credit hours for tuition and fees only per semester, and up to twelve (12) credit hours during a summer session.


The scholarship is LIMITED, and only offered to those who will NOT be receiving any other scholarships, for any amount, of tuition and fees, such as Merit Scholarship, Pell Grant, Regents Scholarship, or ROTC. This list is not inclusive of what may be available. Scholarships covering living expenses, books, and other items may be accepted.


The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester, and the scholarship will be withdrawn if not met for 2 consecutive semesters.


The recipient must attend one (1) GWC meeting a year and assist at two (2) GWC events a year.

 

Amount

Two (2) Full-Time Tuition and Fees Scholarship for up to four (4) years.
