Faculty Senate
The Senate represents the faculty in the academic leadership of the University. The mission of the Faculty Senate includes protecting academic freedom, institutional integrity and autonomy, and shared governance; providing faculty with a unified, substantial and independent voice in matters of educational programs; fostering academic quality by empowering and protecting the work of the Academic Review Committees; and promoting faculty development.

About the Speaker: Michael Tuncap is regarded as an expert on racial diversity, equity and inclusion. He holds degrees in Communications, Political Science, American Ethnic Studies, Public Policy, and International Affairs from the University of Washington in Seattle; a master’s degree in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley, and is ABD in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
